I think that was Brave New World and there's a really good video out there that compares the two. Basically, 1984 is what we feared would happen, but Brave New World is how it actually happens. This vid mentions it: you're distracted to death so you don't notice what's really going on. Brave New World even has the caste system where everyone loves their caste; each thankful that they don't have the work of the others. Although, I do think all of us are starting to see through it.

I made sure to give Animal Farm to my kid around 10 yrs old. I told him it's a short book, but important. And then he had to read it for school the next year, so that was a good reinforcement. There's hope yet.

@DreamsRemorse he was advanced... but i followed up with him asking about the themes, the characters, etc. "It was okay" 😆

@DreamsRemorse exactly why I told him to read it as soon as i thought he was ready. Kids need to be primed to recognize the tatics before they are exposed to them. (We also avoided Disney in preschool. It's literally called "programming".)

Conspiracies are just when a few ppl work together. It's only since the 70s, when the CIA intentionally poisoned the well, that "conspuracy theory" came to mean far flung and crazy ideas. There are tons of actual cobspiracy theories, like assassination attempts and MK Ultra and operation Snow White and Tuskegee Experiment and....
