Poor ppl everywhere eat beans because they grow relatively fast and are a complete protein with complex carbs.

I love that you give the tips for beginners. Of course, if you find that your audience tends to exp. bakers/cooks, I'll understand. But I really don't want to stop making a recipe because I'm covered in powder sugar and then my cat tracked a path to the bed. Also I LOVE where you mention modern conveniences while still explaining the original method. That way, purists can try the original method, but us "just history fans" can try the recipe without losing an extra 4 hours prepping.

Well, the Tart of Brie was one of Tyrion's favorite so she was killed in season 1.

I expect that the spices added to the wine was to show wealth.Just like how sugar was used in to show wealth (the birth of "sugar disease", diabetes) and they would heavily spice rich foods to show wealth. It's conspicuous consumption--literally!

There's also the theories that a good cook would know to add the missing pieces or that anything written down was by someone so famous that they didn't want to give away their secret ingredient(s).

And no one remembers the Sumerians who predated the Babylonians by millennia and who the Babylonians inherited their culture from, especially religion (with their own twists) and bureaucracy.
2
@satqur yes, the Sumerians were prolific. I think the oldest beer recipe found was on a Sumerian tablet.

You have to smash the plantains! You can cut them a bit thicker but then pound them, adding salt while they are still hot from frying. That's how you do a plantain chip...aka a _patacón_.

I learned ftom English people about beef tea (goes by a brand name that escapes me) that is still enjoyed by older generations at cold sporting events.
