I was impressed as well with his thoroughness. I'm going to go look up his show.

That's why he's having it. or maybe it was just unlucky timing.

Snowden is pushing his book. Not as impressive as getting Elon Musk to hang out on camera and take a hit to his company's stock.

GOOD. Joe knows Jack & shit on this topic. His best move is to be an avid listener prompting depth or clarification.

The hardest part of homelessness is the rampant untreated mental illness. Edit: including drug addiction.

> Less so for the fans of JRE* FTFY. It's Joe's show, but it's not all about Joe. I love Joe for giving a platform to many people who would not have a mic for a solid 2-3 hours, like the presidential candidates, scientists, comedians/philosophers, and alternative academics. His show has gotten way more corporate since 2010 but I really don't want to move to a crappy exclusive service. At least Apple prides themselves on "it just works".

@Capital_Soul47 Week 4, Thursday, Eddie says, "I KNEW IT!!11"

46:47 The boys talking about the quality of purses.

Probably don't want to deal with copyright strike and takedown. It's just easier not to deal w it

As the doctor pointed out, the masks commonly available are not useful from preventing infection in a healthy person. they ARE more useful for spreading the infection by sick people.

Looks like a Roberto Durán shirt! He was from Chorillo and made it big. <3 Edit: subbed to you.

Confucius had a lot of good quotes. I esp. like "Forget injuries, never forget kindnesses." Here's a list: https://www.thoughtco.com/best-confucius-quotes-2833291

Also Joe: I have a pretty good memory for facts

Jamie does, but it didn't matter. It was a business decision. Everyone sells out at some point but he thought he could keep his fans because he's built this podcast over decades. But it turns out that he built a (TV) talk show. Putting his show on an exclusive service with poor video quality (and no audience participation--comments) directly impacts the business. He's was trying to turn his success into starting a new "comedy store" in Austin (with plenty of SF refugees moving in) and maybe that's where his energy will be directed this year. I'm not sure if the JRE will recover, and I wonder how much this set back his new plans.

42:58 Real Talk about Kevin Smith's experience. This is JRE. Thank you for your contribution, Kevin <3

@mattgrele6318 agree completely. I saw it "live" and had to watch again immediately and I could see Joe priming the pump. Joe's comedic timing must have played a part because you can see that: they had to have talked about it before, got Elon drinking, got him talking, etc; Joe brought it up and then let it lie. Perfectly executed so Elon thought it was his idea, when it was simple priming.

He said they have the right to set terms of service and said that he wants all speech unless it's illegal. How is that defending censorship?
1
@chuclancy5447 , I didn't endorse him; I asked a question. He's is making a legalistic argument about YT because it's a private company, but his personal approach on his own channel is allow all speech. He even said somewhere else that if we all agreed that YT is a "town square" we would then all have to agree about regulating speech, which means that he'd apply a different standard to YT. I don't see where he's "defending censorship" , which is only applicable to the government, by definition.

bill clinton didn't inhale and he became the first "black" president.
1
No. But I am not following Joe "pull that up" Rogan to a new service with a crappy experience. I have found, in no small part to Joe himself, new podcasters that are not on Spotify. I listen to the ones on YT often--many times re-watching the same ep just like I used to JRE, and I listen to the GOOD ones on my podcast app.

@mattmerola6368 I have no ads on YT because I have ad blocker.

I don't agree with the extreme ends of these views, but it was a fascinating talk (not really a convo this time). I think he eventually explained a lot of libertarian points well, with the kind of time needed to talk economics. Yes, he's very obv. anti-Keynesian, and it was an interesting change of pace to mainstream thought. Good food for thought, and a place to start talking, at least. Thanks

lol. he's always been "progressive" he's a comic who moved to California 30+ years ago. really, he's a pretty normal moderate. he wants to be left alone to do his bow hunting and pot smoking but wants help if something crappy happens and doesn't want to have to pay tons in taxes for a do-nothing govt. That seems pretty normal to me.

they are abundant in the very limited area in a corner of central america

You can prove there is a goal?
1
Joel, I forgot about this. I was asking an open question because I wanted to hear more about your opinion, but got a baseless attack instead. Also, FYI, when you make a claim, yes, you bear the burden of proof. I hope you let go of your anger; it leads only to an early grave.
1
i don't think it was quick. I think he's going to use the money for his next venture. which means THIS is old news to him so I expect a (further) decline in quality.

Most big cities have zdemocrat mayors. Now, they aren't perfect, but you can't deny that they are successful. Onky failed city is Detroit, and that's because they put a lot of their eggs in one obsolete basket.

The scientists can.

@ryanwelsch9384 , other than not breathing, you can't be infection proof. He gave a lot of information how it's spread and how it will progress through populations. He debunked quite a few myths, as well. But his best information is that we have to be prepared for a long pandemic that may only be resolved when it burns through us all, so we need to protect our health to best defend from and withstand infection.
1
@ryanwelsch9384 , the doctor specifically said that the fatality rate is 2-3%, which is not "most of the population dead". I am curious how you become infection proof, tho, because being healthy only prevents the disease not the infection.
1
@ryanwelsch9384 considering gasoline doesn't burn you, while being engulfed in flames does, I'd say the harm started with the spark. Consider that the flame could use some other fuel, then you realize it is the flame that is the danger.

36:25 Speaking truth, Ms Cyrus. Too many man-childs out there, and for someone in these ppl's position there are way too many parasites.
1
nah man, he spent that anniversary money on a new console and game for himself. so ya, you miss the old times, but he's moved on and so should you. "delete facebook, hit the gym, get a lawyer" focus on yourself and get back out there when you're ready.
1
Is he? I thought he was a physicist because of how he talks about who he hangs out with.
1
only the entertainment pool, including the comics but he's trying to fix that....
1
That is just a recipe for rips tendons. It's not healthy, at all.
1
Spotify think themselves as a "music service" and haven't quite transitioned to "entertainment platform".
1
@erictheplumber9516 it's much more standardized and politically correct now, which i associate with sanitzed corporate culture. How would you describe it?
1
@molotovb and yet, he has time to talk about "breaking" his legs. He even said that he's only on JRE because Rogan's fans pestered him and someone in his publishing team said to do it. He wasn't going to it until he was goaded to look into JRE. Here he fell into the "push my book mode" and he just keeps saying "...in my book..." because his typical outlet is PR. I'm not saying it's wrong, I think it's natural, and he talks about important stuff, but it's not as good as Elon Musk just having a conversation (with no particular agenda) with Joe. I've watched the Musk ep at least 3 times, plus a few more highlight reels.
1
@molotovb , your bias is showing. Snowden is trying to be interesting and share his experience, but he didn't answer the question, which is fine of course for a casual conversation. Musk, on the other hand, answered everything that was asked of him AND added color and insight--and it was not about him unless specifically asked. You picked out the few "bad ass" moments from Musk's podcast, but he didn't smoke pot until 2 and half hours(?) into it. before that there was a LOT of really good conversation--did you watch it?
1
@molotovb , to each their own. "The glory of creation is in its infinite diversity." ☮

Where can i learn more about this? I'm not from Austin.
1
Jamie isn't that good, he only got an A in physics. 😆 I don't think it was easy money, he knew he was betting on Spotify and maybe it'll still work out. I think he wants to use the money to get his new comedy store off the ground, which I understand. Best of luck to him in his new chapter.
1
@realcane9908 your point?
1
@realcane9908 Joe probably has an AWS account for his business and writes it off like any other business expense. He wanted the backing of major broadcaster but is finding out that both sides were blowing smoke.
