> Less so for the fans of JRE* FTFY. It's Joe's show, but it's not all about Joe. I love Joe for giving a platform to many people who would not have a mic for a solid 2-3 hours, like the presidential candidates, scientists, comedians/philosophers, and alternative academics. His show has gotten way more corporate since 2010 but I really don't want to move to a crappy exclusive service. At least Apple prides themselves on "it just works".

Jamie does, but it didn't matter. It was a business decision. Everyone sells out at some point but he thought he could keep his fans because he's built this podcast over decades. But it turns out that he built a (TV) talk show. Putting his show on an exclusive service with poor video quality (and no audience participation--comments) directly impacts the business. He's was trying to turn his success into starting a new "comedy store" in Austin (with plenty of SF refugees moving in) and maybe that's where his energy will be directed this year. I'm not sure if the JRE will recover, and I wonder how much this set back his new plans.

@mattgrele6318 agree completely. I saw it "live" and had to watch again immediately and I could see Joe priming the pump. Joe's comedic timing must have played a part because you can see that: they had to have talked about it before, got Elon drinking, got him talking, etc; Joe brought it up and then let it lie. Perfectly executed so Elon thought it was his idea, when it was simple priming.

bill clinton didn't inhale and he became the first "black" president.

No. But I am not following Joe "pull that up" Rogan to a new service with a crappy experience. I have found, in no small part to Joe himself, new podcasters that are not on Spotify. I listen to the ones on YT often--many times re-watching the same ep just like I used to JRE, and I listen to the GOOD ones on my podcast app.

@mattmerola6368 I have no ads on YT because I have ad blocker.

lol. he's always been "progressive" he's a comic who moved to California 30+ years ago. really, he's a pretty normal moderate. he wants to be left alone to do his bow hunting and pot smoking but wants help if something crappy happens and doesn't want to have to pay tons in taxes for a do-nothing govt. That seems pretty normal to me.

i don't think it was quick. I think he's going to use the money for his next venture. which means THIS is old news to him so I expect a (further) decline in quality.

nah man, he spent that anniversary money on a new console and game for himself. so ya, you miss the old times, but he's moved on and so should you. "delete facebook, hit the gym, get a lawyer" focus on yourself and get back out there when you're ready.

only the entertainment pool, including the comics but he's trying to fix that....

Spotify think themselves as a "music service" and haven't quite transitioned to "entertainment platform".

@erictheplumber9516 it's much more standardized and politically correct now, which i associate with sanitzed corporate culture. How would you describe it?

Jamie isn't that good, he only got an A in physics. 😆 I don't think it was easy money, he knew he was betting on Spotify and maybe it'll still work out. I think he wants to use the money to get his new comedy store off the ground, which I understand. Best of luck to him in his new chapter.

@realcane9908 your point?

@realcane9908 Joe probably has an AWS account for his business and writes it off like any other business expense. He wanted the backing of major broadcaster but is finding out that both sides were blowing smoke.
