So if the officers life is at risk he faces a choice of saving his life or being prosecuted. Great choice.

Jody Unapologetically Me Weston positive goals. I don’t see much I object to but I’m against heavy federal action on this. Let the states lead this with a light touch federally. The left wants Washington to run the police. I live in Texas and I live our police. I can see what the democrats do with complete power over policing. Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, Washington, Seattle, etc. unsafe citizens, high crime, etc. The side affects of being to hard on the police is more crime. A lot more crime. Punish the guilty but don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. Well intentioned laws often have awful side effects.

0IIIIII of course they are fantastic. Fantastic for awful teachers who can’t be fired. Or terrible police who can’t be fired. Etc. etc

0IIIIII if you have to force perhaps people to buy it how good is it? Illinois spends $14,000 a year per student. 50% goes on pensions. Unions are great.

I gave up on them years ago. They delete comments they don’t like on Facebook. They only want comments they agree with. It’s pathetic.

Biased BBC. Americans have police forces that are local. State, county, city and town. They all are controlled and run locally by the people they serve. It’s fantastic. If the police in Chicago wNt to do it the way the people of Chicago want then that’s what they get. It’s accountability at its best. The democrats want to federalize policing in the US. That would mean bad policing everywhere. In the US you complain to your local elected representatives if you are unhappy. In the UK you have awful police and high crime.

Jody Unapologetically Me Weston I am no fan of unions and would love to get rid of them. However qualified immunity allows police to do their job without fear of frivolous lawsuits. Doing away with it as the democrats want will guarantee police pull back from proactive policing. Where is the crime? Who will be effected? It’s obvious that black communities will be devastated by a police pull back.

Jody Unapologetically Me Weston I think we agree on much :-) I too want bad cops held accountable. I believe they are a tiny percentage though. Also there are millions of police interactions daily. Watching a handful of bad ones gives the wrong impression. I feel the media push a narrative about the police that does not reflect the data. My biggest concern is the police pulling back from proactive policing. NY went from 2000 murders a year to 300 and now they are pulling back and the obvious is going to happen.

0IIIIII I have two children in school. I have first hand experience of how bad state schools are.
1
0IIIIII if that’s true then that’s wonderful....for one tiny state. Public schools spend a fortune in cities and children can’t read or write. everyone that has lots of money sends their children to private schools. If public schools were so good teachers unions would not fight tooth and nail against school choice.

0IIIIII again if you have to force people to buy your product how good is it? The test results are clear. The US school system is atrocious. Public schools don’t compare to private. Inequality? You want everyone to be equally bad. School choice helps minorities in cities more than anything else....yet you and school unions are against it. Why don’t you want poor black kids to be able to read?

0IIIIII all the data goes the other way. School choice for minorities works. It’s proven. The money thrown at inner city schools is disgusting. Yet the unions won’t let them have a choice. Horrific public school for blacks and nothing else. Minorities want school choice. If your child lived in an inner city would you want a choice? We both know the answer. Competition for public schools scares the hell out of unions because it would highlight how bad they are. Teachers value their unions/benefits more than the children in inner cities. It disgusts me. Those that defend it disgust me. Go visit an inner city school and see what public education really is.

0IIIIII good is comparative. As to one tiny state doing better than the other 49 (if that’s true) what’s that to be proud of? 49 failures out of 50 and you think public schools work! Again you have no response to inner city schools and the disgusting treatment of black children left to rot by your lauded school system because your unions won’t let them have a choice. Again any product you have to force people to buy...

0IIIIII Detroit, Baltimore, Washington, Chicago, NY. All controlled by democrats for decades. Huge amounts of money spent per child (too much on union pensions) and you blame the other guys! They can’t read or write and yet you won’t give them a chance with school choice. The ONLY proven success for black inner city children. Democrats run these schools. Teachers care more about their pensions than the children.
1
0IIIIII so why haven’t you done that? You have total control and have had it for decades. Total! You produce idiots and it costs a fortune. You put your pay and pensions before children. Shame on all of you.

Police in the US are so much better than the pathetic police in the UK
