prudenceblue because you can’t know the exact terms beforehand. We were told that Brexit meant leaving the customs union and the single market. We were told it meant fishing, immigration and and laws would now be decided by the UK. None of which are in this deal. It’s not Brexit.

Steven Carrier we could have left the next day. Parliament is sovereign. The problem is all the civil service and 80% of MPs have been working tirelessly to reverse the vote. The “People’s” vote is the latest incarnation of that. If MPs had done as they promised then it would be smooth. They lied as they didn’t want to honour the referendum result. I’m not sure what benefits you refer to but we aren’t getting any of the benefits of leaving if we don’t leave. We have been lied to for two and a half years now and we have had enough. WTO rules please.

F8oK8 sore loser. Did leave have the BBC working for them? Did leave have the government send out £10 million in leaflets?

The EU and remoaners want us to keep voting until we get the “Right” answer. Respect the referendum result and give us Brexit which by every definition is hard Brexit.

Qinby 1 we disagree. However even if you don’t think 17.4 million people should have been motivated by immigration problems it’s irrelevant. People voted to control their own immigration system. Leaving the EU is the only way to do that. Besides the referendum is history and this sort of debate is 2 1/2 years too late. Now it’s about implementing Brexit shuck includes getting rid of EU freedom of movement.

Steven Carrier what lie? By who? We were promised our vote would count and that Brexit meant leaving the EU. Do remoaners believe in democracy or not? This deal isn’t Brexit and if we accept Brino or a second referendum then I would agree we have been lied to.

Qinby 1 actually you made a point that immigration was a key issue that you believe was a red herring. Linking this to racism and Nazis is typical and not indicative of a strong argument. The desire to control our borders and bring down massive rates of immigration is not racist in any way its common sense. As for other treaties and agreements that’s for us to decide. Not the unelected EU on our behalf. We get to decide our future and we haven chosen to leave the EU. As I’ve highlighted 2 1/2 years ago! We still haven’t left and the offer that’s on the table is worse than staying in. A no deal Brexit was what many people wanted the day after the referendum and Cameron should have executed it in my opinion. Parliament is sovereign. Article 50 is a piece of paper that has no ability to bind one parliament over another. No matter which way you voted IF you believe in democracy then Brexit should be delivered anything less is a provocation for violence on the streets. People won’t have it.

Qinby 1 net migration is a red herring. Gross is the shocking number. If you replace 500k brits with 500k foreigners every year net migration would be zero. Masses of educated brits leave every year. As for helping refugees I’m all for it. As money is a limiting factor i suggest we help as many as possible. To do that we should pay for them to stay in nearby safe countries. We could safeguard 10 times as many for the same cost without bringing a single one on to British soil. The problem is for those that claim the moral high ground is that it’s not about helping people it’s about immigration.

Qinby 1 EU elections have half the turnout of national elections. Half MEPs can not I repeat can not introduce legislation. You didn’t know that did you. So very few people voted for them and they have no power to introduce legislation. So who has the power? Unelected EU politicians. You can love the EU all you like but don’t pretend it’s a democracy. Every vote people are allowed to have they reject it. All that happens is they are ignored or told to vote again until they get the right answer. Both examples are on display now with Brexit. We have clearly voted to leave. The largest electoral mandate in British history. The conclusion two and a half years later is .....Brino or vote again. So do YOU believe in democracy or not? You have yet to answer that by the way.

mattferg100 the BBC is our EU propaganda! Nigel got a lot of air time because of his position as a leading figure. BBC panels are frequently 4 to 1
