  4.  @jturtle5318  define victim? If you count four or more deaths and you remove gang, drug related and murder suicides the number is much much lower than the media report.

For example a security guard accidentally shooting his gun into the ground as he patrols the school at 2am on a Saturday as a “School shooting” The gun violence project is a more accurate source of data. The media inflate the numbers deliberately.

  6.  @loisliu108  an assault rifle is just a semi automatic riffle. Around 400 people are killed with all rifles, shotguns and long guns combined every year in the US. That’s out of the 15,000 gun deaths that happen. Handguns are the gun of choice.

Two attacks with handguns within days and they call for banning assault weapons? Restricting guns that weren’t used because they know the media won’t report that handguns were used. More accurate data is the gun violence project. If I link to it you tube may suspend me. If I link to the inaccurate gun violence archive they won’t. Hard to debate with facts when I’m not allowed to ;-)

  8.  @loisliu108  gun violence is awful. But perspective and context is important. 45,000 gun deaths but 30,000 were suicides. They report the 45,000 figure as gun violence without the context. Most of the 15,000 killed with guns are gang or drug related. If you banned guns criminals wouldn’t turn them in so that number wouldn’t change. Except guns are used defensively every day. The estimate is between 500,000 and 2.5 million defensive gun uses every year. Burglaries, rapes, murders, kidnappings, robberies, etc. all thwarted by people defending themselves with guns. Mostly never needing to pull the trigger. A woman pointing a gun at a bigger man has a profound effect. The gun debate is complicated but guns are everywhere in America and unless you ban them all gun violence won’t change it may even rise. Banning all guns is against the constitution but just ignore that and ask yourself how any government would effectively achieve that? Hundreds of thousands killed maybe millions or civil war?
