Should children read age appropriate material? Is that book burning or good parenting?
16
I don’t let my 10 year old watch R rated movies. That’s not censorship it’s parenting.
13
@hopeintruth5119 parents should not have to meet in the middle when you are talking about indoctrinating children.
8
@blakeblair2734 if you want to teach your version of history in your home that’s your business. Schools shouldn’t be teaching children to hate America. Keep political opinions out of school.
7
77 genders?
7
@bman6502 not all books are good books. Teachers/Activists pushing topics on to children at an early age aren’t teaching they are indoctrinating. Good books aren’t being restricted. Even good books often need age restrictions. Lord of the flies is a great book but I waited until my children were mature enough. That’s not book banning. That’s not censorship. Children are precious and need protection from those that would do them harm. Indoctrination isn’t education.
5
@rentonwilson7286 Nobody is banning books they are being restricted. If you want your 8 year old to read about gender fluidity or that America is a racist country or that children should grow up to be activists then you can order those books for $8 off Amazon delivered next day! Or they are available free at the public library! Your definition of banned is a little off.
4
@hopeintruth5119 you don’t understand what censorship is. Try being conservative on social media. That’s actual censorship. You don’t get upset about that do you. Restricting material is good parenting. Keeping sensitive political topics like gender fluidity out of the classroom is common sense. Children in schools are failing math and reading and they are being taught nonsense.
4
@BakerClassics I thought it was rhetorical! you are a democrat that believes children should be taught to hate America right?
3
@BakerClassics do you think think the 1619 project should be banned from influencing school curriculums? How about the implementation of CRTs tenets into the curriculum? You want me to answer your question but you can’t/won’t answer mine. ;-)

@neatofication Between 1525 and 1866, in the entire history of the slave trade to the New World, according to the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database, 12.5 million Africans were shipped to the New World. 10.7 million survived the dreaded Middle Passage, disembarking in North America, the Caribbean and South America. And how many of these 10.7 million Africans were shipped directly to North America? Only about 388,000. That's right: a tiny percentage. In fact, the overwhelming percentage of the African slaves were shipped directly to the Caribbean and South America; Brazil received 4.86 million Africans alone!
3
@dodieodie498 history will look back at those that allied this to be done to children. We must speak up.
3
Democrat governors fired them all because of Covid policies
2
Big tech censors conservatives all the time. You approve of that censorship but parents not wanting their children to be groomed is wrong?
2
@blueguy12345 conservatives are censored every day on social media. If we want to be in platforms we have to self censor or be suspended.
2
@blueguy12345 you think gender fluidity should be taught in schools? I don’t. If you want to teach that at your home go for it. Keep it out of schools
2
@blueguy12345 we can agree to disagree BUT when you want to do this to children then we won’t be silenced. Keep it out of schools.
2
@rentonwilson7286 if a parent wants that sort of material for their child then it’s free at the public library or if you don’t want to leave your home $8 on Amazon next day delivery. This is what the left are calling censorship!
2
@barutie-patooty6253 propaganda isn’t history.
2
@djsmity2029 teaching children gender fluidity and how to be an activist instead of actual history is what parents object to.
2
@neatofication a lot isn’t taught in US schools. History taught selectively isn’t accurate history. A lot of Americans think Slavery is an American invention because schools have taught history focusing on slavery in the US without putting it in to context. Holocaust day has just occurred yet there’s no coverage of concentration camps in China and the genocide there. “Never again?” Or look the other way? Schools can do a lot better teaching history.
2
@neatofication the US isn’t the new world. It’s only part of it! The figure you quote includes all of north and South America and the Caribbean islands!
2
@neatofication there we go I’m a racist because of facts. :-) High school and college with a teaching degree! At least today you leaned some actual history. The question I have is now that you know better will you repeat it or continue with your falsehoods? (Rhetorical question)
2
@vaughnmorrison9418 world history is important. Teaching it to children is part of a well rounded education. As to your point about US history I agree they can be taught separately but accuracy is important. The teacher I debated with above thought that 12.5 million slaves were brought to the US She was convinced and no doubt millions of other Americans were taught that as part of their US history at school and college. Except it’s not true.
2
@barutie-patooty6253 bother to read what I wrote please. You wrote “The numbers don’t matter” I disagree. When school teachers ignore the world’s history of slavey and teach children that 12.5 million slaves were brought here instead of the 388,000 that matters. Children should be taught accurate history not nonsense peddled by activists. As to repeating history there are concentration camps in China building products sold in America. Where’s the outrage from the activists? America hatred is a great business just look at all the money the 1619 project gets.
2
@barutie-patooty6253 so are you against treating people differently because of the color of their skin.? I’m against it. Always have been. I’m against the government giving preference to one racial group or gender over another. I’m against racism and sexism. In other words I’m not a leftist. Will you denounce democrat policies that are racist and sexist? …..oh wait your racism is the “Good” type. ;-)
2
@alejandrovillavicencio6552 have you seen some of the material in our schools? It’s horrific. My child came home with a book that was completely inappropriate. Schools are failing at math but are pushing indoctrination.
2
@starbuksman actually children are. Ring shown R rated material in school books paid for by the taxpayer. I’ve seen them. Covid has opened parents eyes to what’s been going on in schools.
2
Fantastic. Children should not be groomed in schools. Stick to the basics. Let parents discuss sensitive topics at home when they feel their child is ready.
2
Don’t give them smart phones.
1
@BakerClassics if you want our own children to be taught to hate America with our tax dollars then keep voting democrat.
1
@rentonwilson7286 you don’t know the difference between banning books and restricting what children can read. Conflating the two is what democrats do. Unless you are a democrat deliberately spouting their talking points? Many teachers have been exposed as activists and the material the education establishment has been pushing into schools has confirmed that it’s endemic. Children need education and instead they are getting indoctrinated. My ISD has had dozens of inappropriate books removed much contain sexual filth and gender nonsense aimed at very young children. This material didn’t accidentally get into schools it was placed there. Nobody care if you want to teach your children gobbledygook about gender or train them to be activists. That’s your business. But public schools should steer clear of that. Let’s agree to disagree.
1
@rentonwilson7286 you have no idea about this. The settlers killed very few Native Americans and often only when attacked. They were killed off decades earlier by disease that was unwittingly brought to America. You probably think America was the first country to invent slavery too! Four times as many white Europeans were enslaved by the Barbary pirates than black slaves were brought to America. But you didn’t know that because you believed everything your activist teacher told you. I love history. I hate revisionist history.
1
@neatofication I agree. 4 times more white Europeans were enslaved by the Barbary pirates than African slaves were brought to America. America’s fledgling navy fought the Barbary pirates helping to bring the slave trade to an end. Facts. It’s not taught in US schools though?
1
@neatofication you claim to be a teacher. Perhaps you are. You have been through high school and college. Got a teaching degree. You didn’t know that only 370,000 Africans were brought to the US as slaves. You thought the number was in the millions. You should probably knew nothing about the Barbary slave trade either. 1.5 million white Europeans from Italy to Norway were enslaved by Africans. I’m all for teaching history. Just not by revisionists with left wing “Standards” No wonder parents are angry now they know what “Professionals” are doing.
1
@barutie-patooty6253 so why is the 1619 project taught in schools? 12.1 million less slaves brought to the US matters. Arguing that it doesn’t is peculiar. You avoided my point about your racism being the good type. You voted for institutionalized racism and sexism.
1
@charlottejordan3167 sadly public libraries often display inappropriate material in children’s sections. I used to think libraries were wonderful places. Now as a parent I don’t let my children go in alone and I vet the “Children’s” books they are interested in. Good parents get upset about children’s drag shows in libraries. If you want to label us “Far right” for that go ahead.
1
@sebcw1204 fair enough. I respect your opinion. I think parents who want to teach that to their children in their homes can. I think schools should focus on core subjects and avoid sensitive topics that many parents don’t agree on.
1
@sebcw1204 do you lump evolution together with 77 genders? How about teaching children to be activists? Or math is racist? Honestly this nonsense has no place in schools. Teach what you want at home but schools should focus on core subjects.
1
@sebcw1204 your history isn’t a core subject it’s revisionist indoctrination. As to teaching young children gender fluidity that’s horrifying to many parents. We can disagree on this and still give children a great education. Just exclude the sensitive topics from public schools. Do what you want with your children in your home. That’s your business. That’s your right.
1
@sebcw1204 you want schools to groom children. I’m against that. You want to teach children to hate America. I’m against that. Children are precious and deserve our protection. Again what you want to teach your children is your business. Schools should be teaching children to read and write. They are failing miserably at that. One reason is because many are too focused on this other nonsense.
