  1. Freedom of the press is to prevent the US Government interfering with free speech or censorship on individuals and companies. Individuals can spread rumors and lies, but not slander or libel people or companies done with malice. Civil courts prevent slander and libel by having a jury and a judge determine guilty or innocence and monetary penalties; there is no State or Federal prosecutors, just private attorneys on both sides. That’s is how Alex Jones lost his civil lawsuits in Texas and Connecticut and why Trump‘s cronies and Fox News have civil lawsuits against because of their 2020 election lies against companies and individuals.
