Confederates weren’t charged criminally after the Civil War but weren’t allowed to run for elected office per the 14th Amendment Section 3. This is a civil court matter on whether Trump had violated the 14th Amendment Section 3. In civil trials the determination of guilty is more likely than not; in criminal trials it’s beyond a reasonable doubt.

@jeremypilot1015 The 14th Amendment Section 3 pertains to election eligibility to run for office, a person violating it would be denied to appear on the ballot; it’s not a criminal matter.

@hatchxable This isn’t a criminal case; it’s an election eligibility to run for federal elected office in the state meeting the requirements of US Constitution.

@badpuppy3 "An amendment may be proposed by a two-thirds vote of both Houses of Congress, or, if two-thirds of the States request one, by a convention called for that purpose. The amendment must then be ratified by three-fourths of the State legislatures, or three-fourths of conventions called in each State for ratification…”

@Bfkcjscbsnjc It will be automatically rejected during the ballot count, as if some one wrote in "Donald Duck" for president.

@hatchxable Yes it does per the US court system. Civil court doesn't put you in prison for years long sentence. They can only put you in jail for contempt of court for a very short time.
