  1. It’s turning into a nightmare situation for the Russian military if the war turns into a non-conventional warfare, a Guerrilla war. Every civilian could be a “Freedom Fighter” hiding and waiting for an opportunity to strike against you. The Russian military will be viewed as an enemy occupation force, having to subdue a large population under harsh treatment to keep their own casualties low against opponents that wears civilian clothing, and are not in military uniform. The Russians might control territories, but they will not be able to control the population if they people doesn‘t want them in their country.

  2. The types of weapons and equipment being talked about being supplied to Ukraine are very telling. Man portable shoulder launched anti-aircraft missile for low flying helicopters and low flying fighter jets, along with body armor indicates this is becoming a Guerrilla war scenario with forces spread out and not concentrated. Large scale Ukrainian armored troop movement for counter attack requiring air superiority is not envisioning requiring battalion size air defense units. Localized pockets of air defense for layered defense of Ukrainian positions will be used to harass the Russian forces as they advances to bleed the Russian advance and make them pay for Ukrainian territory taken. It will become a war of attrition as casualties begin to mount.

  3. Looking at the videos on the Russian military equipment crossing from Russia into Ukraine, it doesn’t appear to be their top of the line forces. It appears to be T-72 tanks and older BMP fighting vehicles. Russia has a conscription army with only a one year service, making military training problematic. The Russians are saying that it’s taking a pause in their attack to re-supply and replenish troops. It wouldn’t make sense starting an invasion without adequate fuel, munitions, and food for the invading troops and having to replenish supplies after two days of combat.
