Seoul’s alleyways are narrow and very steep with stairways in a lot of places, where a lot of bars are located. If a person trips its like a “Domino” affect causing a cascade of people falling over each other buried under a waterfall of falling people. In general young people are oblivious to the dangers in their immediate surroundings. The Seoul alleyways are not well lighted and with that many people crowed in a small space the noise level must have drowned out the screams bouncing off the narrow alleyways. The young people were pushing from both ends of the packed alleyway where all the young people had died and the police were on the main streets.
