  1. They should start putting “Plimsoll Lines”, lines along a container ship’s side showing the limit of submersion allowed in the water, on commercial passenger tour boats. The archaic way of calculating the amount of allowable passengers is assuming an average passenger weight of 150 lbs. The tour boat was rated for 40 passengers yet it capsized with only 29 people onboard.

  2.  @doxoxo779  US Airlines based passenger weights use the FAA Standard Average Weight Table. Adult males in summer 190lbs, winter 195lbs. Adult females in summer 170lbs, winter 175lbs. Children in summer 82 lbs, winter 87lbs. The winter weight accounts for the more cold weather clothing and heavier footwear. Loaded baggage onto the plane is extra and weighted at check in.
