  1. A Russian invasion now would be a disadvantage for Russia. NATO is having their yearly joint Mediterranean fleet exercise Neptune 2022 in which NATO countries are supplying warships to be under NATO’s direct control during the exercise. The US has contributed the Carrier Strike Group 8, which has the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, guided-missile cruiser, Carrier Air Wing one and ships from Destroyer Squadron 28. Other NATO warships include destroyers, submarines, and frigates. NATO can response quickly during the exercise, since the military chain of command is under NATO, until early February when the exercise is over and the military chain of command is reverted back to their individual country. It appears Putin’s military advisors overlooked this. Neutral Sweden has put their military on higher alert. They have moved their quick-response fighter jets to the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea, off Sweden’s southeast coast near the Russian border.
