  1. Iceland is one of the few countries that is 100% “Green Power” on its power grid. It uses geothermal energy for its baseline electrical generating power and on non-peak power periods, it uses electricity to split water to make hydrogen gas to store for peak load periods. During extremely high peak power demands exceeding the geothermal power, they burn the hydrogen gas turbines to cover the peak electrical power demands that the geothermal electricity cannot cover.
