  1. A crack in metal is a split in the metal reducing the amount of support structure; a fracture is where the metal no longer has any support structure. It’s like when the doctor says you have crack in your bone and puts you in a cast versus when he says you have fracture where bone no longer are together and you need surgery to attach pins in your bone.
