  1. It was curious that the Turkish airlines jet was flying the shorter polar route over Canada to Istanbul and didn’t divert to a Canadian airport and flew south from Canadian airspace bypassing closer Canadian airports back into the US.

  2.  @berkekadircelik6282  Even if the captain died, they wasted more fuel crossing Canada to get back into the US, unless aviation fuel is cheaper in the US.
