  1. The Russians destroyed the airbase out of spite. The Ukrainians doesn’t have much military airplanes that would use the airbase so close to the front lines, but humanitarian flights could have landed there for the civilians. At the start of the War when Putin was bombing civilian shopping centers and apartment buildings and the Russian pundits were saying that it was because Ukrainian military depots and equipment were stored there. Now they just quit lying and just bomb civilian power generation, water plants, and food distribution and showing the world that they are terrorists and war criminals. Putin knows that he'll never be back and just did a "Scorched Earth" policy out of spite.
