  1. A £14 million super yacht sank taking on water during a waterspout; a tornado at sea is called a waterspout. The super yacht must have been anchored with two anchors, one at the bow and one at the stern. Modern super yachts are built for pleasure and not for rough sea. With a bow and stern anchor, the yacht couldn’t swing away from the wind and like most pleasure yachts she has a low stern with sliding glass doors allowing the waves to enter the cabin.

  2.  @Scalihoo  The waterspout was over Sicily due to isolated local condition. Tornados are more violent since is a major weather front with fast moving weather front over a wide area over land. A cyclonic wind at sea is call a waterspout.
