  1. The Russian soldier is placing his left hand on top of the scope as he fires. It looks like he has a very bad case of “Scope Bite” and the recoil and rising of the rife is hitting his eye. He is using his left hand to keep the barrel from rising and pushing forward to reduce the recoil. The Russian army marksmen have the weirdest shooting stance.

  2.  @zachgregory1289  It must be common technique in the Russian army, but is not done in the West. Support is place under the rifle, not on top.

  3.  @zachgregory1289  During rapid fire assault sometimes a “C-Clamp Grip” is used where you make a “C” on your non-shooting hand and grip the side front of the gun for muzzle rise; but it is never on top of the barrel over your scope.
