The old Soviet era Russian 2S4 Tyulpan self-propelled heavy mortar is the largest mortar system in use today, but it has become obsolete against modern artillery like M777 howitzer the Ukrainians are using. It’s like the old “Indiana Jones - Raiders of the lost Ark (1981)” movie scene with the big sword vs. a gun.

  5.  @QnA22  It's slow to load, requires to many soldiers to load it, can't "Shoot & Scoot", uses ammunition only made for them, and the Russians stop making them.

  6.  @QnA22  For the heavy mortar you have to lower the tube load a round at the muzzle end, raise, reposition the tube, fire and repeat. With modern counter-battery radars, portable recon drones, quick firing self-propelled howitzers, precision M777 howitzers, and kamikaze drones the life expectancy of the Russian heavy mortar crew is very limited.
