It wasn’t during “Mid Flight”; it was during the landing approach at low altitude and low speed otherwise the aircraft automatic depressurization system would have deployed the overhead oxygen masks. At “Mid Flight” the air pressure outside the aircraft is lower then the cabin pressure and the emergency door can not be pushed outward to open.
