  1. History shows that England sent people to the American colonies and when the colonies were lost they sent them to Australia; the Crown wanted them gone from the island. The French sent them to Devils Island and other French colonies before they lost the colonies. The idea has always been to get them as far away as you can to make it difficult to come back!
