  1. You can tell the difference between the civilian NOAA scientists and the military crew flying a hurricane hunter mission. NOAA civilians don’t secure lose objects on the plane as they fly through a hurricane, like zipping his pocket shut with his mobile phone and wallet. In front of the plane one of the NOAA scientists was using his hand to hold down his drink/food cooler.

  2. NOAA was flying an old P-3 Orion, not a C-130 Hercules. You can tell by the short wings, the type of turbo engines and the narrow fuselage with much less headroom. The inside of a C-130 would be larger to house cargo.
