The Russian military has to do it old school style using a military theodolite instrument for precision location using land marks and paper form to fill out to calculate ballistic trajectories for the approximate tube elevation, while the West use GPS to calculate the firing data. “I shot an arrow into the air, it fell to earth, I knew not where…” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow‘s poem “The song of Hiawatha“. The Russian version shooting unguided rockets into the air, it fell to earth, I knew not where...

@Mikhail_Utkin The Russian GLONASS GPS has been plagued with problems of corruption and not performing as advertised. “Two months after EurAsian Times reported a Russian Sukhoi Su-34 ground attack/bomber aircraft having civilian US-made satellite navigation receivers taped to their dashboards, another video has surfaced showing a similar satellite navigation receiver that relies on US’ Global Positioning System’s (GPS) services attached inside the cockpit of a Su-24 jet…” 11 Jul 2022 EurAsian Times.

@Mikhail_Utkin Stop making up lies.

@Mikhail_Utkin There wasn't a GLONASS receiver installed on the pilot's instrument panel. The pilot taped the US-made GPS to the panel. A lot of the Russian cruise missiles have missed the target and hit apartment buildings.

@piotrd.4850 GPS gives you your location for a starting point base on satellites in orbit. You input the coordinates you want to fire the shell or missile. The unit calculates and inputs the data automatically in the fire unit. Russians have to do it by paper and sighting landmark and calculate it on paper.
