  1. The cluster munitions were originally developed for a “Blitzkrieg” fast moving attack to blunt an attacking force. With the Russians digging trenches three layers deep with minefields in between the trench lines in open fields, these are the targets; not towns or villages. The sub-munitions with land in the Russian trenches dug in open fields and some of the sub-munitions will detonate the hundreds of anti-tank mines and anti-personnel mines the Russians have buried between the trenches.
