  1. Trenches, tank ditches, tank “Dragon Teeth” obstacles, and tank mines are to delay an enemy until reinforcements can be brought up to the front lines. When the Russians invaded, there were no Ukrainian delaying barriers. The Ukrainians fought the Russian advance by bleeding them every step of the way until their counter-offensive attack. Given the poor morals (attacking civilians), training, and equipment of the Russian solders, it’s doubtful the Russians in trenches could prevent another Ukrainian counter-offensive from rolling over them again.

  2.  @tomhenry897  Modern armies are mechanized, the days of soldiers marching to the front lines in long lines are long gone. Artillery and air strikes are to be expected in an attack; counter-battery radar and anti-aircraft batteries are used.
