  1. The Russian ‘turtle tank’ with the mine rollers was traveling too fast over the mine field. The weighted mine rollers are the minimum weight to set off the land mine in front of the tank tracks. The tank was traveling too fast for the mechanical pressure switch in the mine to activate by the roller and the tank track set it off; poor training by the Russian tank crew.
