It was a perfect drop, on the edge of the fire line allowing the firefighters to dig a fire break in front of the fire with the fire retardant in back of them coating the dry vegetation creating a bigger fire break to keep the fire from jumping over. There have been some environmentalists against forest fire retardant because it’s a wetting agent mixed with fertilizer to bind on the vegetation. Like farm land fertilizer runoff, the ammonia base fertilizer may cause algae bloom in rivers and lakes reducing oxygen and may kill fish.
