The Belarusian volunteer soldier was firing an AT-4, a rocket launched weapon used against light armor (it can’t stop a Main Battle Tank) and buildings against the Russians. Once fired the launch tube is thrown away. A grenade launcher fires a light grenade usually about 40 mm, whereas the AT-4 rocket is 84 mm. The grenade launcher has to be fired in an arc and has a shorter range, whereas the AT-4 is aim and shoot with a much longer range. If you are going to drive “Hell’s Bells” right up to the Russians, an AT-4 is way better than using a slow firing short range grenade launcher.

@therighthonsirdoug By the sound and rapid firing it's a 50 cal firing and not a slow firing 40 mm grenade firing. When the Humvee reverses you can see the 50 cal shell casings falling on the hood.

@dylanshandley1246 The 40 mm grenade casing is short and wide verses the 50 cal shell casing longer and smaller diameter.

@sesameseedbar8853 An AT-4 has to ambush an MBT with a side, rear or track hit. Charging like a "Bat out of Hell" blazing away using a M2 "Ma Deuce" on top of a Humvee isn't exactly an ambush.

@kuvalauta179 It depends on the MBT, a UK Challenger 2 MBT in the Iraqi war was hit multiple times and was repaired. "It was hit by 14 RPG-7s from close range and a MILAN anti-tank guided missile. The crew survived, safe within the tank until it was recovered for repairs, the worst damage being to the sighting system. It was back in operation six hours later…” Wikipedia.

@kayden9102 In the video there was a Humvee with a 50 cal to provide suppressing fire for the dismounted soldier with the AT-4, if the guy used a portable grenade launcher it would be slow. I didn’t say anything about a heavy Mark 19 auto grenade launcher on the Humvee which it didn't have.
