  1. By the damage it must have been either a very large gas leak instantly or a small gas leak that accumulated for a long period of time. Either way they apparently didn't have a gas detector in the home. The home gas detectors are inexpensive and can be either battery powered or powered from the house electrical outlet.

  2.  @C.CUMM1NGS  In the video notes; "...gas explosion that ripped through a house leaving four people in hospital...". It appears the injured people were at home at the time of the explosion most likely upstairs.
