  1. The Bayesian had a crew of 10 and had 12 passengers. Only the yacht’s chef died, and 6 passengers are missing and presumed drowned. The captain of the Bayesian, James Cutfield 51, told Italian police that he wasn’t monitoring the weather closely and the ship’s retractable keel was raised, even with an anchor depth of 160 feet. Lowing the retractable keel would have added stability and made it harder to capsize.

  2.  @nigel8499  Yes, the captain of the old sailboat anchored next to the modern Bayesian monitored the bad weather and started her engine to keep the old sailboat’s nose into the wind at anchor to keep from being rolled over in a quick wind shift.
