In 1994, a court in Singapore sentenced an American teenager, Michael Fay, to be lashed six times with a cane for violating the Vandalism Act. After spending 83 days in jail, he was released early on 21 June on grounds of good behavior, and left Singapore for the US the next day. In the US the kid would have been given a sentence of community service hours and fined instead of jailed and whipped with a cane; know the laws of the country you are visiting or you can be spending years in prison!

I kept laughing because it reminded me about the Seinfeld pizza guy not washing his hands making pizza. There was a city ordinance to employees to wash their hands after using the restroom. The pizza guys will only pass the cost to their customers. And they don't want health inspectors, LOL!

Posting bail only allows a small respite before the trial and the 12-year sentence. The US has a treaty with the Turks and Caicos and will arrest and send you back if you try to skip bail! There is no US Presidential pardon!
