That’s why the total dead and missing is hard to calculate. The flood notification was by phone. The people who evacuated were because of neighbors and volunteer firefighters pounding on their doors, river evacuation sirens along the river would have saved more lives. The funds for an enhanced alarm system were rejected by the GOP MAGA as too costly since most of the scenic river views are RV sites and small commercial vacation cabins only occupied in summer with no voting constituency.

  2.  @RangerDanger-h9j  A local resident would have been easily to ID with local records. A vacationer from outside the area with limited or no ties to the area would be harder to find records to ID the body.
