Before entering the final for landing and before entering the airport’s outer perimeter the jet is configured for landing by lowering flaps, slats and landing gear. Even if the bird strike was high up, there should have been time to configure for emergency landing. Landing gear can be manually cranked down if hydraulic loss. There are a lot of unanswered questions.

@shaft5theng The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) calls for a Runway End Safety Area (RESA) that requires 300 ft pass the end of the runway and recommends 240 ft beyond that. This doesn’t assume a wheel-up landing. For a wheel-up landing the fire trucks would have laid down foam on the runway. At some airports they have special nets that string across the runway with weights to drag the jet to a stop on very short runways in an emergency.

Lightning-bol In the video the flaps wasn't down. The gear is lowered at about 140 knots.

The jet was on final to land, when it suddenly declared a “May Day” and tried to do a go-round. After starting a mis-approach, the jet never gained enough altitude to re-enter the landing pattern. Unexpectedly, instead of doing a mis-approach and trying to land with the wind on the active runway, the jet did a 180° turn and landed wheels up without flaps, slats and with a tail wind.

@shaft5theng On jets, they have a small Ram Air Turbine (RAT), a propeller driven motor to lower into the airstream to power their electrical and hydraulics for emergency landing if they didn’t have time to start the small gas turbine engine call the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) in the tail section. There is redundancy in the design of modern jet planes.

Lightning-bol Landing gear can be manually dropped down if there is a hydraulic loss. The Boeing 737 series does not have fully enclosed gear bay doors, the landing wheels are just recessed into the plane with one side of the wheels visible under the jet.

Lightning-bol That’s the unanswered question. The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder will give further information since both pilots didn’t survive.

Lightning-bol Internet radar airline flight information isn’t accurate. The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder will give further information since both pilots didn’t survive.

Lightning-bol The video clearly shows that the flaps were not lowered. Why would the pilots raise the flaps on a wheels-up landing. On a wheels up landing you want to go as slow as possible because you have no brakes, the jet was travelling too fast without flaps. Your analysis makes no sense. The internet flight data is inaccurate.
