$1 Billion debt present to the Florida taxpayers. The local, county tax zone can divide up the debt amount to the property tax zone. All because of the MAGA GOP's hurt feeling against Mickey Mouse.

@jdaze1 Quick answer NO. The MAGA GOP dissolved the self-governing entity, Disney paid the separate self-governing entity for services.

@matthewabln6989 Local property and sales taxes are for municipal and country services provided, Disney paid the self-governing special tax district for the services and absorbed any losses the special tax district had; it was the cost of doing business for a quicker response for municipal services that a regular city would take ages to make a decision.
1
@deplorablefederalist7908 You should review your business law, Disney Corp and the special tax district are different corporate entities.
1
@matthewabln6989 The special self-governing tax district was only for municipal services. The $1 Billion property tax would be assessed over every property owner in towns and country in the area. The small population size and small businesses that now has to absorb the 43 sq business area with a $1 Billion debt would bankrupt them if the debt was to be called in because of the uncertainty of situation.

@ColSandersFORPRESIDENT The voters was the MAGA GOP state govern legislature and Governor. So, you can say that whatever the outcome, the Floridians will have to live with it.
1
@matthewabln6989 If Disney used it's money to change peoples's opinion, they spend it in Florida spreading the money. It's same for printers print both parties campaign posters. The 50 year tax agreement helped the local economy. The Floridian should also picket around Disney and block tourists and force Disney to leave Florida. Having a political disagreement doesn't constitute a threat.

@matthewabln6989 The land Disney bought was basically a non-revenue producing land. Don't lie, it greatly increased the local population's economy. Business, religion, and politics are separate, you can't "Bully" to change their views.
1
@matthewabln6989 Not everyone voted for the MAGA GOP in Osceola and Orange counties either.
1
@matthewabln6989 Tell it to the MAGA GOP, you are either a MAGA GOP or a traitor. They go around wearing their MAGA hats and clothes like a military uniform.

In the short term, Disney can remove the $1 Billion debt off their books. The Disney employees working in municipal functions, firefighters, trash collectors, road maintenance, will have to be absorbed by the local towns and country. Disney shouldn't fight this and let it happen and move the municipal services to the MAGA GOP taxpayers. Under its legislative charter, the Reedy Creek special tax-district operates much like a local government, providing services like building and maintaining roads, operating fire and emergency medical services, picking up waste and recycling and managing utility systems like water and power. Other not municipal taxes outside of the Reed Creek special tax-district of Reedy Creek is paid by Disney. "Walt Disney World paid $780.3 million in state and local taxes in 2021..." US News

@MICHAEL-vy3ch Disney had a municipal trash disposal service like a regular town or city. The park trash collection in the park was paid by Disney, but the municipal trash disposal was paid by Disney to the self-governing special tax district landfill.
1
@MICHAEL-vy3ch The debt to build, maintain, and close the landfill is the big debt, not the trash disposal.
1
@MICHAEL-vy3ch Yes, Disney could afford to walk away and look for another landfill. And the local towns and county would have a huge landfill by law they have to maintain, monitor, and close down after it is filled for a tiny population, which would bankrupt them.
1
@MICHAEL-vy3ch The MAGA GOP did it and Disney has to end the special tax-district next year. The debt for municipal services falls on the local government. The $1 Billion debt isn't a business expense anymore and can't be amortized and paid back over time.

@MICHAEL-vy3ch Like a developer who creates subdivisions and maintained the infrastructures, unit they turn over the subdivision to the local government for the public areas once all the homes are sold and responsible for the burden. Disney did not operate as a city, it was their Reedy Creek corporation that ran as a city and will be gone and the local government will take responsibility of the cost.
1
@MICHAEL-vy3ch Just to be clear, NO. The MAGA GOP doesn't care what happens, they made their political point.
1
@MICHAEL-vy3ch You are totally missing the point of the special tax-district. All the debt/bond issued by the Reedy Creek corporation will be the responsibility of the local governments. “Florida’s Disney, Reedy Creek legislation lands ‘negative watch’ rating from Fitch…” The Business Journals 23 Apr 2022
1
@MICHAEL-vy3ch The Reedy Creek was incorporated for the special tax-district as a separate business entity. Check the internet for business laws, bankruptcy laws and tax laws. If fitch drops the bond rating, it will affect the Florida local governments, making it harder to sell bonds. Walt Disney Co 119.72 +1.42 25 Apr 2022 3:30 EDT

"Walt Disney World paid $780.3 million in state and local taxes in 2021..." US News. It's very doubtful that the MAGA GOP's action will hurt Disney financially with this political drama.
