Having to quarantine in Hawaii and stay indoors for the duration of your vacation if you test positive, would be torture. It would be like spending the big bucks to eat at a five star Michelin restaurant and then told because of the pandemic, you are only allowed to eat MREs after blowing all your money to get there.

@Omikoshi78 Did you even listen to what he said? He said that travel should be for essential travel and not for vacation. You take your chances if you get Covid on vacation over there. You can’t fly back to the mainland if you test positive; you have to quarantine in your hotel room. People aren’t forced to travel for vacation during the pandemic; you take your chances if you spend your money for a vacation.

@Omikoshi78 People who risked booking for a vacation during a pandemic, could buy vacation insurance allowing them to get some of their money back for a cancellation. You can also just go there on vacation and hope not getting the virus and having to spend more money if you have to quarantine longer in a hotel; the state is not on lock-down. Life is a gamble, you take your chances. This announcement of not traveling for vacation during a pandemic wasn’t new; it was often repeated by other government officials. The Hawaii tourism industry didn’t have advertisement telling people to travel to Hawaii during the pandemic. The only money held hostage is the stupid people who booked a vacation during a pandemic.
