The flood waters in the car interior causes black mold in the carpet, shorts out and corrodes electrical connections that are not water-proof in the interior of the car and costing more money to repair; making it a total loss by car insurance company. States will not register cars that are flood damage and list the cars as salvage and not operable on the road.
