  1. Immunity is protection from criminal actions that a jury would otherwise have to determine guilty or not guilty. Immunity is given by prosecutors to obtain evidence against another person for a much larger crime. Trump doesn’t want immunity, he wants a “get out of prison card”.

  2. There is precedence for a former US President committing a crime while in office. Richard Nixon admitted that he had committed crimes while in office by accepting Gerald Ford’s pardon preventing him from being charged after he resigned; you can only accept a Presidential pardon after you admit guilt.
