  1. The Ukrainian war has become a war of attrition using guerrilla tactics of a smaller force fighting a larger conventional force. For tanks and military aircraft to be effective against the Russians, the Ukrainian soldiers must have previous training in the equipment. The heavy tanks and jet fighters therefore must be the old Soviet era weapons and not the newer NATO weapons they have no training on. Transporting the old Soviet era tanks, Mig-29, and Su-27 fighters across NATO territories into Ukraine would give the Russians an excuse to mark them as legitimate targets viewed from satellite images and attack them at the border. The small anti-tank, anti-aircraft, and infantry weapons can not be identified as it moves across the border and harder to detect crossing the border.
