The hyena wasn’t pushing the wild dogs into the lions; it was following the wild dogs looking for a free meal. The wild dogs are faster at bringing down a prey; all the hyena had to do was to take over the kill since it didn’t have its pack of hyenas to hunt with.

@nadineharley5744 It was a small wild dog pack. The Hyena has a thicker skin and can withstand the wild dog bites. An injury would be a death sentence to the wild dog from a single Hyena bite; that's why the wild dogs kept looking back at the Hyena. The Hyena is like the wolverine, it fights above its weight class.

@nadineharley5744 Hyenas have one of the strongest bites in the animal kingdom, over 1100 PSI. They go for the throat clamp to subdue their prey. Like Hyenas, wild dogs generally kill their prey by biting them on the throat, which damages the trachea and the major blood vessels of the neck.

@nadineharley5744 The chances of attacking the belly in a rundown is not possible. Animals will go for the extremities to pull down the prey and then go for the throat. Both Hyenas and wild dogs eat their prey while they are still alive.
