  1. Yes the Soviets came out with the Mig-29 and SU -27 in teh mid 1980's , America was already on its 2 ed generation Stealth Aircraft , both Fighters and Bombers . The SU-35 is still just an improved version of the SU-27 while the US is already retiring the F-22 which is a totally Dominant fighter that has no equal ....and is already being retired The close in dog fight is a rare occurrence and the F-35 and F-22 are designed to kill way over line of sight so enemy aircraft are destroyed far beyond even visual range . A large 4 pus plus generation fighter is just still just a sitting duck and has been for the last 30 plus years ....well when it comes up against US first line fighters .
