  2. There’s no doubt the US helped push Russia into a corner, or Putin Rather, but it is in the best interests of the world for Putin to lose legitimacy, especially at home. The enemies of world peace are dictatorships-Iran, Saudis, Russia, China, North Korea-modern democracies rarely attack each other. And the reason for Putin’s panic is the threat of democracy on his doorstep, as he demonstrated over and over with the former satellites of the USSR.
