@AjaxDGonzo I'd say that education, a wide education, gives you the ability to think critically, to judge ideas on their merit, to balance pros and cons. With dogma of any kind, that kind of questioning is neither required or desired. You and I are engaged in a discussion. You're not telling me what to believe and vice versa. I think the surest sign of real intelligence is the willingness to keep learning, to have curiosity. And curiosity about the place of humans in the world, the meaning of life etc, those are great questions. I guess my beef with dogma is that it stifles curiosity and tends to make non-believers the enemy. I believe in some kind of universal spirit, but what it looks like, well...I just keep on talking, thinking, traveling, reading. The older you get the less you 'know' is the cliche, the more you realize how mysterious reality is.
