  8. All the excuses for denying gay/lgbtq rights to Africans have been heard forever in America. They’ve also been used against black Americans and other minorities. ‘Family values’, Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’; all these come under the name of fundamental religious conservatism which is also usually misogynist. There is no excuse for abrogating civil rights on the basis of gender or sexuality.
