You can tell the value of Sowell's 'wisdom' by the quality of comments.

@yt.damian We'll stop talking about race when it stops being a problem. 6 Mississippi cops just got serious convictions for torturing 2 black men.
5
@dictare nice excuse for racism
4
@john236613 Perhaps you’re too young to remember Jim Crow, cross burnings and lynchings, but the concept of hate crimes is to deter crimes based on race or religion. The question you need to ask is “Why is this still happening?”
4
Either you don’t believe in racism, the reason for that designation, or you support it.
3
Sowell is proof that conservatism and facts don’t mix.
2
Simpleminded conservative dogma, Sowell’s specialty.
2
@rogeralsop3479 Take this video as an example of Sowell’s blunt rhetorical style. Are liberals guilty of making poor black Americans dependent on welfare? I believe there is some truth to that. And if Sowell was evenhanded he would admit that Civil Rights activism and Affirmative Action were likewise net positives for Black Americans. But Sowell sees nothing of value from the left side of the spectrum. What were conservatives offering in ‘61 as an alternative to Jim Crow, cross burnings and lynching? One of his videos states Obama was the worst president ever? Women were better represented in power before ‘60s feminism? Absurd, fact free claims. He may have taught economics, I seriously doubt he ever taught history.
2
‘Obama worst president ever’ according this ‘genius’. W got American’s killed in a phony war, but Sowell, despite his education, chooses dogma over objectivity.
2
Sowell, making slavery great again.
2
Sowell's reasoning here is typical free market cultist. Let people 'earn' whatever they can, however they can, we don't need regulations, let's have trillionaires. Like the laws of physics don't apply. Not exactly a master of logic.
2
@SamSpade903 Does it disprove the need for hate crimes? I sincerely doubt it.
2
Comparing America to Rome makes a melodramatic tag line, but come on. And to the extent that we are a democracy, the danger comes from voters willing to overlook a candidate willing to throw an election.
2
Sowell is a dogmatic conservative who claims that Obama was America's worst president, and absolutely ridiculous opinion to go along with the rest of his arch conservative views. In his view, Civil Rights legislation and Affirmative Action were to blame for the poverty of black, never mind lynching, red lining and racism that continues up to this day. Some genius. He's only a mediocre economist.
2
Middle class wages have stagnated until recently since the 80’s while productivity climbed, along with CEO pay packages. Sowell selling wooden nickels.
1
Sowell just a conservative retread.
1
@rogeralsop3479 No, that would be a silly claim. I object to Sowell’s purportedly peddling some ‘truth’. He’s educated, knows history, but spins it, quite ridiculously at times, to further his agenda. You’ll never see a piece titled ‘the dangers of white conservatives’, which would be more pertinent given the times.
1
@ahG7na4 In English, what's a shlib?
1
@ahG7na4 So you’re an anti-imperialist libertarian?
1
@mikeguilmette776 I don’t think we have much common ground here. By what measure was 1961’s Affirmative Action a positive? By all the same metrics that apply to civil rights advances. Go back and look at the number of black Americans in positions of authority then and now. Or women. Nor am I gulled by your confusion of the GOP and southern segregationist Dems in the 60s; we both know who the conservatives were. Cycles of poverty and the failure of welfare are well documented, but contrary to your assertion, conservatives have never offered anything other than platitudes and trickle down economics (a well documented failure) as policy alternatives. The blame for financial inequality we see today, the hollowing out of the middle class, falls disproportionately on the GOP for repeated giveaways to the wealthy.
1
@Uncivilize I see no refutation of Sowell’s ‘agenda’. He claims Obama was the worst president ever, that is far from an objective opinion on the historical record. I’m willing to see complexity and grey areas, I can argue against faulty liberal positions. I don’t see the equivalent from Sowell.
1
No one listened because he was wrong then. With his philosophy we’d have no Civil Rights, it’s a mere excuse for racism.
1
The ones being played for fools are those who believe Sowell is some kind of intellectual. That job involves a little objectivity, a scarce commodity in Sowell’s rants. ‘Obama was the worst president ever’. Really? I seem to remember W starting a phony war on phony intelligence and Trump telling people not to get vaccinated while he did as he botched Covid response.
1
@DawnWigeriVanEdema I went to Columbia. I don't see any argument of the facts. Do you believe Obama was worse than Trump or W? If so, we have no common ground.
1
The best conservative mind out there. And he’s just where he belongs, withering on YouTube.
1
Sowell veers right on everything, do not expect wisdom, expect conservative dogma.
1
The KKK wants there hood back.
1
Thomas Sowell is a legend….in his own mind. Merely a parrot of conservative dogma v
1
Guess who else benefits? All the corporations and farms that depend on immigrants. The GOP’s dirty secret.
1
Sounds sexy, comparing Rome to America, but it is utterly ridiculous. And I would remind conservatives that democracy is our greatest gift from Western Civ and one which so-called conservatives seem willing to jettison.
1
Sowell’s specialty, creating safe space for bigotry. Living proof that conservative intellectual is an oxymoron.
1
I’d say Trump voters, supporting a con man who tried to rig an election, well that looks anti-American to me. Sowell’s made a few interesting points about black culture, but mostly he’s just a conservative preacher.
1
Affirmative action began under JFK at a time when conservatives were offering lynching as an alternative policy. History counts.
1
You can’t be a scholar and a mouthpiece for conservative dogma. Sowell’s chosen the 2nd.
1
We paid reparations then reneged. That payment would be worth roughly half a trillion today.
1
Sowell’s hidden wisdom. Well hidden.
1
Conservative dogma from a talking head. Other wisdom from Sowell: Obama was the worst president ever. Really? That’s partisan idiocy.
1
@ScandinavianHeretic Was Obama the worst Us president? Reagan brought dow the Iron Curtain, good, started homelessness and ignored AIDS bad. Sowell never delivers nuance. See how easy.
1
I would point out that this retread of Sowell’s omits the GOP foot dragging and isolationism on Ukraine. Just like most of his work, he only sees evil where he chooses.
1
As if Sowell would have his job at Stanford and his education without social justice. He’s a joke of an intellectual.
1
Sowell right where he belongs shilling conservative dogma on YouTube.
1
Sorry Thomas Marxism is here as long as capitalism is.
1
Ridiculous pseudo intellectual shilling right wing dogma.
1
We got Obamacare which is more than the GOP has given us in decades. The downside is that racists are now voting for a white traitor just for revenge. Conservative genius at work.
1
@sebastianlucas704 Do a search with him and gov regulations.
1
One of these two won a Nobel for Econ, the other parrots right wing talking points.
1
Equality and equity will ‘cure’ Marxism. Not free market cultists
1
@rucker69 Did you read about the goon squad in Mississippi? The only detractors from 'hate crime' supporters are hate crime backers.
1
@Panicscroll69 Your KKK hood is in the mail.
