  1. Comparing America to Rome makes a melodramatic tag line, but come on. And to the extent that we are a democracy, the danger comes from voters willing to overlook a candidate willing to throw an election.

  2. Sounds sexy, comparing Rome to America, but it is utterly ridiculous. And I would remind conservatives that democracy is our greatest gift from Western Civ and one which so-called conservatives seem willing to jettison.
