There are history books for a reason.

Go job shilling for MAGA.

Glenn has gone solid conspiracy. Remember polio. There was a reason for vaccines, which most of the GOP obtained during covid.

She’s a loose cannon, couldn’t be more unsuited, incompetent choice to lead NSA.

Biden didn't cave in to Putin, one of the most important issues facing a president.

Greenwald might once have been a serious reporter or something, but his take on US siding with Putin is astoundingly, dangerously wrong. Contrarian for contrarian's sake. Pitiful.

Mearsheimer and Greenwald are famed for a revisionist view of world politics. American aggression is the cause of world conflict, according to these pundits. While there is some truth to that assertion, it avoids the big picture that the world will never be at peace as long as dictators rule superpowers. Russia has in fact lost this war already by failing to beat a much smaller adversary, proved its military ridiculously inept and its diplomacy in tatters. Some peace should be reached; there is no ‘winning’ possible by either side unless Trump completely caves. In the meantime, Ukraine has a nascent democracy, the real reason Putin is in Ukraine. Dictatorships are allergic to democracy, especially on their doorstep. See Georgia, Moldova and the courting of Eastern European right wingers.

I’m sick of hearing about woke, especially while MAGA fools run roughshod over the constitution, democracy and civil rights. Thanks for nothing Greenwald.
1
Russia may ‘win’ thanks to Trump’s cowardice and vast ignorance, but if you imagine Mexico holding off the US army for 3 years you get an idea what a catastrophic loss Russia has already suffered in reputation, hardware and lives.
1
Hilariously ahistorical
1
I bet you didn’t predict Ukraine would fight a superpower to a standstill for 3 years.
1
@ I think the US would’ve taken Mexico in two weeks. It’s been 3 years. Putin’s not laughing, or he wasn’t till Dumpy got elected.
1
Maybe because you don't know 20th C history.

@ War with a nuclear power is to be avoided, that doesn’t require explanation. And peace in Ukraine has to happen. My beef is with making concessions BEFORE the fact to our nuclear armed enemy. If Reagan or any preceding president had buddied up to previous USSR despots, Eastern Europe might still be a group of Soviet satellites. Putin and China despise and fear democracy, we promote it because it leads to peace. Trump is either maniacally egotistical or being blackmailed, I see no other explanation for his insane ‘negotiating’ tactics.
1
@jasonprice800 I only have my experience of history. Cozying up to superpower dictatorships is something no, repeat no US president has ever done. By keeping pressure on Russia Reagan brought down the USSR and freed Eastern Europe and former Soviet states. That spreading of democracy, is good for world peace. Enabling totalitarianism is the opposite.
1
Shockingly stupid.
1
Check the history of the USSR and the fall of the Iron Curtain. When we're tough with dictators people earn their freedom. Putin's enemies have a habit of falling out of upper story windows.
1
@ you have a very poor grasp of US Russia/USSR relations.
1
Absolutely bonkers. Nuclear armed dictator poses no threat to leader of the free world?
1
Cozying up to Russia under Putin is idiotic, something no, repeat no US president has ever done. By keeping pressure on Russia Reagan brought down the USSR and freed Eastern Europe an d former Soviet states. There’s no way to spin this as ‘smart’, reasonable or promoting world peace.
1
@pedropaulovillasboas7229 I live in a world where I studied Poly Sci in college and have been voting since '72. Selling out Ukraine isn't "an open line of communication'. I urge you to check our history with Russia/USSR. No US president of either party has ever done what Trump is doing. It invites more aggression. Trump thinks he's smart; Putin is smart, and a murderer.
1
@pedropaulovillasboas7229 I'm 68, I've seen 'being tough on Russia" dismantle the communist monstrosity that was the USSR, you may not remember back that far. I've seen millions in Eastern Europe and the Soviet states freed from police states. We've long had a hotline to the Kremlin to avoid accidental nuclear war. What no America president has ever done is side with a Russian dictator against a young democracy. Do you understand, NO President EVER, neither party, has sided with Russia. Democracy and the spread of it is the way to world peace. Chinese and Russian dictators are in the way. Putin attacked Ukraine, just like he attacked Georgia before that because he doesn't want democracy on his doorstep, he doesn't want Russians dreaming of actual elections.
1
@pedropaulovillasboas7229 There's a reason no President has ever caved to a superpower dictator. I recommend you skim history of fall of the Iron Curtain. Policy of Containment. We've always had a hotline to the Kremlin, that doesn't mean we do their dirty work.
1
Russia may ‘win’ the peace, thanks to Trump’s myopic egotism and ignorance, but their military reputation is in tatters. It’s as if Mexico fought us to a draw for three years. Reagan is spinning in his grave at Trump’s cowardice.
1
Greenwald, Mr. Contrarian, on the wrong side of history.
