I went to overhaul my rear calipers on my 2001 Camry 1mzfe. Rear calipers were not working. I took them out of the car, removed the piston and cleaned up piston and bore. Went to Toyota Australia to get seals. TA wanted $250 for the seals with 14 day wait because the seals came from Japan. Calipers are made by Aisin. I could get a whole new caliper for the 250. I got Febest seals instead. Got them in 2 days. My opinion is that TA charge too much for the genuine parts and this drives limited budget people to source aftermarket parts. GM here do the same. This is why dealerships get the name of stealerships. In addition, TA here have made several key parts for the Camry unavailable due to deletion from their catalog. I see no reason to junk a perfectly good car because of some minor item that costs only a few dollars to make. Tremendous waste of resources and keeps people in debt forever. To me it is a totally unethical way to do business, to price the crap out of needed parts. Companies now assume that you are a millionaire and that everyone has bundles of cash to throw at routine maintenance. To keep my Camry going, I have to resort to aftermarket parts as much as I would like to stay with TA parts. It has gotten much worse getting car parts here at reasonable prices since gm, ford and toyota stopped making cars here. Any parts imported come with sky high prices along with lack of availability as you now have to pay air freight to get parts the dealer does not carry and you have to wait weeks to get those parts.
