  1. Sadly, that wouldn't have been enough. These people most likely aren't paying any attention to the road. They are most likely paying attention to their phones. There was no reason with that little traffic for that many cars to run into that. Additionally, most people don't know how to drive defensive. Plan where you're going to move to if something goes wrong. Being aware of other drivers and what they may or may not do, etc
